Analysis
Chicago and San Francisco—Trading Technologies International, Inc. (TT), a global capital markets technology leader, has entered a new phase of expansion by partnering with Thoma Bravo, one of the world’s largest software-focused investment firms, alongside its current owner 7RIDGE.
The move follows a comprehensive strategic review and aims to strengthen TT’s ability to deliver end-to-end trading solutions globally. The transaction is expected to close in Q4 2025, subject to regulatory approval. Terms have not been disclosed.
TT’s evolution into a full-spectrum, multi-asset SaaS trading ecosystem has attracted growing attention across capital markets. Since its acquisition by 7RIDGE in 2021, the firm has significantly expanded its offerings in futures, options, fixed income, FX, and crypto—while enhancing services for data analytics, compliance, and post-trade workflows.
“With 7RIDGE’s sector insight and Thoma Bravo’s strategic acumen, TT is poised to become the operating system for the capital markets,” said Justin Llewellyn-Jones, CEO of TT. “This partnership equips us with the scale, capital, and know-how to transform our global platform.”
7RIDGE founder Carsten Kengeter emphasized the firm’s long-term vision: “We believe TT is at the heart of financial infrastructure transformation. With Thoma Bravo joining, we can build a next-generation global fintech powerhouse.”
A.J. Rohde, Senior Partner at Thoma Bravo, noted: “TT has quickly become a critical player in capital markets. With our operational support and global reach, the company can now scale at an entirely new pace.”
George Jaber, Principal at Thoma Bravo, added: “Together with 7RIDGE, we’ll deliver resources, innovation, and executional discipline to strengthen TT’s market leadership across regions.”
This deal aligns with Thoma Bravo’s track record of investing in fintech platforms to drive operational growth. The firm previously backed capital markets software provider Calypso (later sold as Adenza to Nasdaq for $10.5 billion), and more recently acquired cybersecurity and SaaS companies like Darktrace and Everbridge.
TT’s global ambitions reflect a broader trend in capital markets tech, where demand is surging for scalable, real-time, and multi-asset trading infrastructures. With clients spanning Tier 1 banks, CTAs, hedge funds, commercial hedgers and risk managers across North America, Europe, Asia-Pacific, and the Middle East, TT plans to deepen its geographic presence and product integration capabilities.
As the financial ecosystem faces heightened demand for automation, resilience, and regulatory transparency, platforms like TT are increasingly seen as foundational. The new partnership seeks to deliver speed, reliability, and intelligence—qualities essential for next-generation trading operations.
The transaction is supported by a suite of leading advisors. Houlihan Lokey is serving as lead financial advisor to TT, with Barclays also acting in an advisory role. Legal support comes from Proskauer, while Oliver Wyman is advising on market and commercial strategy. Ardea Partners and Goodwin Procter are advising Thoma Bravo.
