Analysis

Tages Capital SGR has successfully concluded its latest fundraising initiatives, amassing a substantial €700 million across two distinct funds. The firm's dedicated energy transition vehicle, the Tages Helios Net Zero (THNZ) fund, reached a final close at approximately €554 million. This figure represents a significant 16% increase over the preceding Tages Helios II fund, which secured around €477 million, underscoring the growing investor appetite for sustainable infrastructure assets managed by the Italian asset manager.

Complementing the THNZ fund's success, the Tages Credit Fund also finalized its fundraising, bringing in an additional €145 million. This dual achievement highlights Tages Capital SGR's expanding capabilities and investor trust in its diversified investment strategies. The firm's total assets under management have now more than doubled, exceeding €1.4 billion within a span of less than three years, a testament to its rapid growth trajectory in a competitive market.

The THNZ fund attracted a diverse base of approximately 30 institutional investors. This group included prominent insurance companies, forward-thinking pension funds, influential banking foundations, and established banks. Notably, nearly half of these investors, around 44%, are new to Tages Capital SGR's offerings, signaling the firm's success in broadening its investor relationships and attracting fresh capital to its specialized strategies.

Investment mandates for the THNZ fund span the full spectrum of the energy transition. This encompasses established operational photovoltaic facilities (brownfield assets), development of new renewable energy projects (greenfield), biomethane production, critical battery energy storage systems, and the rapidly evolving electric mobility infrastructure. The fund's strategic focus aligns with the global imperative to decarbonize energy systems and build resilient infrastructure for a net-zero future.

With over half of the THNZ fund's capital already allocated to promising projects, the fund has commenced distributions to its investors in 2024. This early commencement of returns demonstrates the operational efficiency and proactive management by Tages Capital SGR. The firm's ability to deploy capital effectively and generate returns in the current economic climate is a key factor driving investor confidence.

Eugenio Vecellio, Head of Sales at Tages Capital SGR, commented on the achievement, stating, “In a challenging market environment, we are proud to have surpassed the €500 million mark. This is a clear sign of investors' confidence.” This sentiment reflects the broader trend of institutional capital seeking robust returns from sustainable investments, particularly within the European energy infrastructure sector, which continues to see significant deployment driven by regulatory tailwinds and corporate sustainability goals.
