SailPoint Acquires Entro Security for AI Agent Protection

In a strategic move to fortify its position in the rapidly evolving cybersecurity arena, SailPoint Technologies Inc. has acquired Entro Security Ltd., an emerging player specializing in the security of artificial intelligence agents. While financial specifics were not officially disclosed, industry reports suggest the transaction valued the Tel Aviv-based startup at approximately $200 million. This acquisition is set to significantly enhance SailPoint's recently launched Agentic Fabric platform, which aims to extend robust access control mechanisms to the burgeoning world of AI agents.

The integration of Entro's technology is expected to provide SailPoint with immediate capabilities to manage and secure a vast array of AI workloads. According to SailPoint's Chief Marketing Officer, Wendy Wu, the acquisition accelerates their native reach, offering out-of-the-box coverage for over 1,000 new and existing agent types. Furthermore, it expands the discovery of more than 1,200 non-human identity types, including critical elements like API keys, tokens, and certificates, which are fundamental to AI agent operations.

Entro Security has carved a niche by developing a platform that automatically inventories AI agents within an enterprise network, mapping their interactions with human users and other systems. This granular visibility allows for the identification of dormant or potentially risky agents, such as those inactive for over 90 days, which can then be flagged for decommissioning. The platform's ability to detect insecurely stored credentials and provide context on their origin and scope is a key differentiator.

A significant aspect of Entro's offering lies in its behavioral analytics. The system establishes baseline activity patterns for each AI agent. Deviations from these norms, indicative of potential compromise or unauthorized actions, trigger alerts for administrators. These alerts are designed to be actionable, often including natural language explanations of the incident and its potential impact on connected services, such as an agent attempting to access sensitive data from an unfamiliar database.

The market for AI security solutions is experiencing exponential growth, driven by the widespread adoption of AI across industries. Enterprises are increasingly grappling with the complexities of managing and securing these autonomous agents, which often possess broad access privileges. Entro's technology, with its focus on automated risk detection and remediation suggestions, directly addresses this critical gap.
