Impax Asset Management Hires Andrew Morris for Infrastructure

Impax Asset Management has bolstered its private equity infrastructure division with the appointment of Andrew Morris as Co-Head. This strategic move signals the firm's continued commitment to expanding its capabilities in sustainable infrastructure investments, a sector experiencing significant global growth driven by the energy transition and digital transformation.

Morris brings over two decades of extensive experience in infrastructure investing, spanning private equity, real assets, and direct investment leadership. His prior role as Head of Infrastructure Equity at UBS Asset Management saw him directing investment strategies across critical sectors like energy, digital, and transportation in both Europe and North America. This deep operational and strategic background is expected to significantly enhance Impax's capacity to identify and execute complex infrastructure projects.

The appointment also sees Morris join Impax’s Management Committee, underscoring his senior position within the firm. He will collaborate closely with existing Co-Head Daniel von Preyss. The leadership team is further strengthened by the promotions of Manish Sarwal to Head of Asset Management and Babaola Omiyale as Managing Director, reinforcing the depth of expertise within the Private Equity Infrastructure group. This organizational enhancement comes as Carsten Johansen prepares to depart the firm at the end of August.

Morris's career trajectory includes significant tenures at prominent institutional investors. Before his time at UBS, he served as a Managing Director within the Infrastructure and Real Assets division at Canada Pension Plan Investments. In this capacity, he was instrumental in originating, executing, and managing a diverse portfolio of investments across both public and private markets. Earlier, he was a foundational member of the RREEF Infrastructure European team, now part of DWS, where he played a key role in fund raising, investment deployment, and portfolio management for pan-European infrastructure funds.

The infrastructure investment market, particularly in areas aligned with sustainability, is a rapidly expanding field. Global spending on infrastructure is projected to reach trillions of dollars in the coming decade, with a substantial portion dedicated to renewable energy, grid modernization, and digital connectivity. Impax, with approximately £23.3 billion in assets under management as of June 30, 2026, is strategically positioned to capitalize on these trends. Morris's expertise in energy, transport, and digital infrastructure is particularly relevant as Impax focuses on long-term themes such as climate change mitigation, resource efficiency, and technological advancement.
