Analysis

ICG has added a high-profile hire to its North American client team, naming David Scudellari as Senior Advisor for Canada. The appointment is intended to sharpen engagement with Canadian limited partners as the firm steps up outreach across the region.

Based in New York, Scudellari will report into Alan Isenberg, ICG’s Global Head of Client Solutions, and collaborate closely with the firm’s Canada client leads, Sunil Vaswani and Lauren Korosec. The move reflects a strategic push to deepen relationships with large Canadian institutional allocators and to customise product and distribution workstreams for those investors.

Scudellari arrives with extensive institutional experience. He was most recently Global Head of Private Assets and Strategic Partnerships at AIMCo, and earlier held senior roles at PSP Investments, Barclays and Goldman Sachs. That background brings direct knowledge of Canadian pension and sovereign-style allocation practices—useful for an asset manager seeking to translate investment capabilities into long-term mandates.

The hire comes as asset managers intensify coverage of Canadian LPs, who remain among the most active global allocators to private markets. Demand from these investors for differentiated access, co-invests and tailored financing solutions has pushed global firms to expand local coverage and organise investor events. ICG itself ran a Canada-focused investor forum last month as part of that effort.

Senior leaders at the firm framed the appointment as part of a broader client coverage build-out. Benoît Durteste, ICG’s CIO and CEO, said the addition strengthens the firm’s North American engagement and helps translate its investment track record into deeper LP partnerships. Alan Isenberg noted Scudellari’s standing in the Canadian market and signalled that the firm expects his network and perspective to accelerate relationship development with sophisticated public and private allocators.

ICG will offer in Canada a more dedicated senior coverage, earlier access to product launches and greater opportunity for customised solutions such as co-investments or mandate-level structuring.
