HarbourVest Partners, the global private markets investment firm managing over $147 billion in assets, has appointed Venu Krishnamurthy as Managing Director and Head of Global Private Wealth. In his new role, he will lead all aspects of the firm’s private wealth business, including global sales, marketing, operations, and client service.
Venu brings nearly three decades of experience in global financial services. Before joining HarbourVest, he was Global Head of Aladdin Wealth at BlackRock, where he oversaw the firm’s flagship technology platform for wealth management institutions. Under his leadership, Aladdin Wealth became a cornerstone tool for private banks and advisors looking to manage risk and performance across client portfolios.
Prior to his time at BlackRock, Venu spent more than ten years at Citi, holding various senior leadership positions across the United States, Asia-Pacific, and Europe. He most recently served as President of Citigold Wealth Management, overseeing Citi’s high-net-worth retail wealth platform and building out its international strategy and client experience.
Venu began his professional journey as an engineer at IBM before transitioning into consulting roles with McKinsey & Company and Boston Consulting Group. His cross-disciplinary experience has made him a recognized leader in both strategic advisory and operational execution in the wealth management industry.
He holds a bachelor’s degree in engineering from the National Institute of Technology, Surathkal and an MBA from the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad—two of India’s most prestigious academic institutions.
With this appointment, Venu takes over from Alex Rogers, who had been leading HarbourVest’s private wealth initiatives alongside his broader responsibilities as Chief Strategy Officer. Rogers will now focus exclusively on his strategy role as the firm doubles down on global expansion and customized solutions for private clients.
HarbourVest’s decision to bring in Venu reflects its strategic push to scale its private wealth offerings globally. As demand for access to private market investments continues to grow among individual investors, HarbourVest aims to deliver institutional-quality opportunities tailored for private wealth channels across regions.
