Analysis

European early-stage venture capital firm Entourage has successfully finalized its second investment vehicle, securing a substantial €100 million. This figure significantly surpassed the firm's initial fundraising target of €75 million, with the fund being capped shortly after reaching its new ceiling. This rapid and oversubscribed close marks a significant milestone for Entourage, occurring just over two years after the launch of its inaugural fund.

The firm, established by veteran entrepreneur Pieterjan Bouten – known for co-founding and scaling Showpad to over $100 million in annual recurring revenue before its acquisition by Vector Capital – is broadening its investment scope. Fund II will move beyond the software-centric approach of its predecessor, actively seeking opportunities in cutting-edge sectors.

Entourage Fund II is strategically positioned to back approximately 25 pre-seed and seed-stage companies. The investment thesis encompasses high-growth areas such as artificial intelligence, enterprise software, robotics, physical AI, and deeptech. This diversified focus reflects the evolving technological frontier and the firm's ambition to capture innovation across multiple domains.

Initial capital allocations for portfolio companies will range from €1 million to €5 million. Importantly, Entourage has earmarked a portion of the fund for subsequent investment rounds, signaling a commitment to supporting its portfolio companies through their growth phases. The firm champions a founder-centric, generalist investment philosophy, often opting against board seats to streamline decision-making and reduce operational burdens for the companies they back.

The operational strength of Entourage is bolstered by its experienced team, including partners Evert Beeckman and Maarten Mortier, alongside investors Erwan Gardelle, Sixtine Riescher, and Illja Schiller. With strategic hubs in Brussels, London, and Paris, the firm also leverages its venture-building arm, Entourage Studio, to actively co-create new ventures. This integrated approach allows Entourage to identify and nurture promising startups from inception.

Entourage's first fund has already demonstrated significant success, evidenced by its portfolio companies' rapid ascent. Notable achievements include Aikido Security, which attained unicorn valuation in January 2026 following a $60 million Series B led by DST Global. Additionally, Conveo secured a $50 million Series A in September 2026, and legaltech firm Lexroom reached €30 million in ARR within two years, supported by a €50 million Series B in May 2026. These exits underscore Entourage's capability in identifying and nurturing high-potential ventures within the European tech ecosystem.
