D-Matrix Acquires GigaIO Data Center Business

D-Matrix, a specialist in low-latency AI inference compute, has significantly expanded its system-level AI infrastructure capabilities by acquiring the data center division of GigaIO. This strategic move integrates GigaIO's expertise in rack-scale architecture and high-performance interconnects into D-Matrix's growing portfolio, aiming to address the escalating demands of distributed AI workloads.

The acquisition deepens an existing collaboration between the two entities, which commenced in 2025. By incorporating GigaIO's core data center technologies, including the SuperNODE platform and the FabreX memory fabric, D-Matrix is enhancing its end-to-end AI solution. This integrated offering now encompasses D-Matrix's own Corsair inference accelerators, JetStream networking, Aviator software, and the SquadRack reference architecture, co-developed with industry leaders Broadcom and Arista.

This consolidation comes at a pivotal moment for artificial intelligence infrastructure. The industry is witnessing a pronounced shift towards disaggregated compute models, where inference tasks are distributed across a variety of processing units—CPUs, GPUs, and specialized accelerators. This necessitates highly efficient, real-time data movement across all levels of the data center, from individual chips to entire facilities. D-Matrix's acquisition directly targets this critical need for seamless, low-latency data flow.

Sid Sheth, Founder and CEO of D-Matrix, emphasized the systemic nature of modern AI inference. "Inference is now a systems problem, not just a chip problem," Sheth stated. As part of the transaction, GigaIO will continue its operations independently, focusing on its edge computing solutions. Meanwhile, D-Matrix gains not only crucial intellectual property and technology but also a skilled team of systems engineers. This influx of talent establishes a new engineering hub in Carlsbad, California, expanding D-Matrix's global presence to six innovation centers spanning North America, Europe, and Asia.
