Analysis

Buenavista Equity Partners has reinforced its strategic support of Spanish Earth-intelligence pioneer Xoople by investing a total of €10.5 million through its Ventures and Infrastructure funds. This comes as part of a €34 million round led by Spain’s CDTI and AXIS (ICO), closed on 18 June, and brings Xoople’s total financing to €115 million.

Founded in Spain with a global mission, Xoople is developing EarthAI, an advanced geospatial AI platform that merges satellite constellations with real-time analytics. The system provides continuous, AI-ready datasets designed to help monitor physical changes on the Earth’s surface—offering value in climate science, infrastructure management, and urban development.

Buenavista was Xoople’s first private investor in 2021 and has remained a committed backer. The company also plays a key role in Microsoft’s Planetary Computing initiative, enabling scalable AI processing of satellite data through the Planetary Computer Pro platform.

This new investment strengthens Buenavista’s position in Spain’s lower mid-market deep tech sector. Its Ventures portfolio now includes 19 companies, such as Omniscope, acquired earlier this year.

The funding also reflects a broader trend of increased venture activity in geospatial AI and Earth observation technologies globally:

  • Felt (USA) raised $15M (~€13.5M) in July 2025 to grow its AI mapping platform for environmental risk, including wildfire and flood monitoring.
  • askEarth (Switzerland) closed a CHF 2.26M (~€2.3M) seed round to accelerate geospatial intelligence tools for climate and city planning.
  • LGND AI (USA) secured $9M (~€8.3M) to power its platform for training AI models on satellite imagery.
  • Albedo (USA) raised nearly $100M (~€92M) to deploy high-resolution imaging satellites focused on agriculture, defense, and energy sectors.
  • ICEYE (Finland) brought in over €145M in its latest round to expand its radar satellite constellation, now valued over €500M.

In July 2025, Xoople confirmed an additional €22 million raise, pushing its total funding to €137 million—further validating its growth and scale. This latest raise reinforces Spain’s positioning as a rising hub in Earth-focused AI innovation.

At a time when Europe is working to develop sovereign AI infrastructure, the backing of companies like Xoople underlines the strategic importance of geospatial data capabilities. Buenavista’s continued support signals strong investor belief in EarthAI’s potential to transform how the world perceives, analyzes, and acts upon planetary-scale change.
