Analysis

Blueprint Equity has appointed Taylor Cavanah as its inaugural Operating Partner in a move aimed at accelerating growth across the firm's portfolio of founder‑led software companies. The San Diego growth investor, which manages about $600M AUM, said Cavanah will work alongside co‑founders Bobby Ocampo and Sheldon Lewis to sharpen product, go‑to‑market and people strategies for scaling businesses.

Cavanah arrives with more than 20 years of entrepreneurial and executive experience. He co‑founded and served as CEO of PetDesk, a fast‑growing SaaS platform for veterinary practices that reached a Series E financing stage, executed four bolt‑on acquisitions and captured traction across SMB and enterprise segments. At Blueprint he will apply a product‑led, sales‑driven playbook to lift key SaaS metrics such as ARR expansion, retention and CAC efficiency.

Before PetDesk, Cavanah held leadership roles at Zyvex Corporation and its spin‑out Zyvex Instruments, managing divisional P&L through an acquisition, and began his career at Sony America in a product forecasting think tank. He holds a BA in Physics from Rice University and an MS in Physics and Nanoscale Science from the University of Texas at Dallas, combining technical depth with commercial operating experience.

For Blueprint Equity — which recently closed an oversubscribed third vehicle collecting roughly $333M — the hire signals a common shift among growth investors: bringing seasoned operators into the firm to deliver hands‑on support rather than relying solely on boardroom oversight. Operating partners can materially shorten the time it takes for portfolio companies to move from early product‑market fit to repeatable, capital‑efficient scale.
