British Columbia Investment Management Corp. (BCI), which manages 212 billion USD (295 billion CAD) in assets, has appointed Ken Bennett as strategic advisor for its private equity program, effective immediately.

Based in Newfoundland and Labrador, Bennett brings extensive experience in insurance, reinsurance, and corporate strategy. His career began at KPMG before he joined Johnson Inc., where he held leadership roles including vice-president of growth initiatives, regional vice-president for Western Canada, and chief operating officer. He later spent 15 years as president of Johnson Insurance Ltd. and Assurance Co., leading a major transformation and expansion of the business.
Jim Pittman, executive vice-president and global head of private equity at BCI, welcomed the appointment, noting that Bennett is the first of several senior advisors planned to support the expanding portfolio. Pittman emphasized that Bennett’s operating expertise, board-level insight, and deep sector knowledge will reinforce BCI’s value creation model and governance standards.
Outside of his corporate career, Bennett chairs the board of The Health Care Foundation in Newfoundland and Labrador and sits on the board of Vedra AI Inc.. He is also a former chair of the board of Newfoundland Power, a subsidiary of Fortis Inc.
