Analysis

AustralianSuper, Australia’s largest superannuation fund, has added veteran investor Eneasz Kadziela as Senior Portfolio Manager – U.S. Private Equity in its New York office.

Kadziela joins from the New York City Retirement Systems, where he served as Deputy CIO and Head of Private Equity. Reporting to Aaron Witte, he will deepen partnerships with top-tier managers and source premium private capital opportunities for the Fund’s over 3.5 million members. Approximately US$75 billion of AustralianSuper’s US$230+ billion in assets is invested in North America.

Recent global appointments by AustralianSuper include Mikaël Limpalaër as Head of Americas, relocated to New York in 2024; Nick Ward as Head of Private Credit – Americas; and Maria Reed as Head of Fund Services – Americas, joining from BlackRock in late 2024. Other additions include Damien Mitchell and Andrew Osborne as Senior Investment Directors – Real Assets, Matthew Choi as Senior Investment Director – Private Credit, Jennie Rose as Senior Investment Director – Private Debt, Emilce Song as Investment Director – Infrastructure Equity, and Kang Peng as Associate Director – Infrastructure.

In 2024, AustralianSuper also expanded its International Equities team in London with three new senior portfolio managers. Earlier, in 2023, the Fund appointed Mark Hargraves as Head of International and Private Equity, based in London, to drive offshore growth across equity and private capital strategies.

AustralianSuper is pursuing a strategy to double its U.S. headcount by 2026, growing the New York office from around 60 to more than 120 professionals. The firm has focused on building internal teams for private equity, real assets, infrastructure, and private credit to enhance direct deal sourcing, deepen relationships with GPs, and improve cost efficiency for members.

This global hiring strategy positions AustralianSuper to access high-quality deal flow, increase operational control, and ensure that the Fund continues to deliver strong long-term outcomes for its members by aligning investment capabilities closer to key capital markets.
