Aviation MRO Merger: Artá Capital & Magnum Form New Giant

In a significant consolidation within the European aviation services sector, two prominent Spanish players, Aviaction and AG Aviación, have joined forces. This strategic merger, orchestrated by private equity firms Artá Capital and Magnum Industrial Partners, aims to forge a dominant force in the aircraft maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) market for both commercial and executive aviation segments within Spain.

The newly formed entity will leverage the combined expertise of its predecessors, integrating capabilities that span cabin design and maintenance, component repair, line maintenance, and technical cleaning. This synergy is expected to unlock substantial growth opportunities and enhance the group's competitive positioning. Magnum Industrial Partners and Artá Capital will collectively hold a commanding 90% stake in the consolidated business, underscoring their commitment to the venture's future success.

This transaction is not driven by new fundraising but rather by a strategic imperative to consolidate operations, achieve greater economies of scale, and accelerate expansion. The combined operations are projected to generate annual revenues exceeding €50 million, reflecting the significant market presence of the merged entity. Leadership roles within the new organization have been clearly defined to ensure a smooth transition and continued operational excellence. José Capilla, the founder of AG Aviación, will transition to the role of Executive Chairman, bringing his extensive industry experience to guide the strategic direction. Juan Antonio Carrasco, formerly the CEO of Aviaction, will assume the position of Chief Executive Officer, responsible for day-to-day operations and execution.

AG Aviación, established in 1997, brings a robust operational history, while Aviaction, through its legacy operations including AIRE and Servitec, boasts over a quarter-century of experience in commercial aviation services. Together, the combined workforce exceeds 500 employees, forming a substantial talent pool dedicated to serving a diverse clientele. The operational hubs are primarily located in the Madrid region, with AG Aviación based in Madrid and Aviaction in Coslada.
