Analysis

Arete Wealth has officially launched Arete Capital Partners, a new division aimed at significantly enhancing its investment banking services. This strategic move formalizes and expands the firm's existing capacities in capital formation, capital markets transactions, and corporate advisory, positioning it to serve a broader client base with more comprehensive financial solutions.

The newly established Arete Capital Partners will concentrate on supporting growth-stage enterprises, privately held businesses, financial sponsors, and institutional investors. By leveraging the extensive resources of Arete Wealth's diversified financial services platform, which manages over $8 billion, the division is set to offer integrated deal execution and strategic guidance. This platform encompasses a broker-dealer, a registered investment advisory business, alternative investments, and a national network of financial professionals.

Leading this expansion is Renny Kuruvilla, appointed as Head of Corporate Finance. With over two decades of experience in investment banking, equity capital markets, and transaction execution, Kuruvilla brings a wealth of expertise. His background includes senior roles at prominent firms such as B. Riley Securities, Newbridge Securities, NOBLE Capital Markets, IFS Securities, Euro Pacific Capital, and Roth Capital Partners. His most recent tenure as Managing Director at Newbridge Securities and a prior four-year stint as Managing Director of Investment Banking at B. Riley Securities underscore his deep industry knowledge.

Arete Capital Partners will provide a full spectrum of services, including public and private capital markets activities, mergers and acquisitions, and strategic corporate advisory. Capital markets offerings will span Initial Public Offerings (IPOs), follow-on offerings, and registered direct offerings. On the private side, the division will facilitate private placements, debt financing, structured capital solutions, mezzanine financing, PIPE transactions, and convertible securities. The M&A practice will cover buy-side and sell-side mandates, divestitures, management buyouts, and cross-border transactions, complemented by corporate advisory services like strategic alternatives assessment, valuations, and capital structure optimization.

The firm intends to focus on emerging growth companies across key sectors including technology, healthcare, financial services, real estate, consumer goods, industrials, energy, business services, alternative asset management, and specialty finance. This targeted approach aligns with current market trends favoring specialized advisory for high-potential businesses navigating complex capital environments. The emphasis will be on senior banker engagement, bespoke transaction structuring, access to institutional capital, and fostering enduring client relationships that extend beyond single deals.

David Levine, CEO of Arete Wealth, highlighted the strategic importance of this initiative, stating, “Arete Capital Partners represents an important next stage in the growth of our firm. We have built a financial services platform focused on providing investors with access to compelling investment opportunities via curated relationships with best in class Sponsors and Issuers. Establishing a dedicated investment banking division under Renny’s leadership expands Arete’s corporate finance and capital formation capabilities while creating new and differentiated investment opportunities for our investors.”

Kuruvilla added, “Companies today need more than just access to capital. They need experienced partners who understand how capital strategy, transaction structure and long-term growth fit together. Arete has built a unique platform from which we can provide senior-level investment banking expertise while drawing upon a much broader financial services ecosystem. I see tremendous opportunity to build Arete Capital Partners into a differentiated investment banking platform and trusted long-term partner to our clients.”
