Vice President/Principal, European Mid-Market, Germany

Role Overview

ICG is hiring a Vice President/Principal for its European Mid-Market private equity team, based in Munich, Germany, reporting to the European Mid-Market Managing Director. The team sits within ICG's Structured & Private Equity division, which recently closed its Mid-Market Fund II at EUR3bn (a 300% increase over the prior vintage) and has already deployed capital across 8 investments. The predecessor Mid-Market Fund I has delivered 5 exits to date, all ahead of target returns. The German office will grow to two people with this hire, while the fund head is based in the UK; the hire also sits within ICG's wider UK Equity & Subordinated Debt team of 30+ professionals, which also manages the Large Cap fund (ICG Europe Fund IX, currently fundraising with a EUR10.0bn target).

Key Responsibilities

- Origination: Source new mezzanine and equity investment opportunities (target size EUR75m-EUR250m) using personal and firm networks; research potential targets and manage relationships with bankers, PE sponsors, M&A advisors, accountants and lawyers for deal referrals.

- Screening/Analysis: Build financial models and evaluate proposals; produce deal summaries and investment papers; monitor market and sector trends.

- Due Diligence: Lead financial and commercial due diligence workstreams, run sector expert calls, and contribute to management team meetings.

- Deal Execution: Drive and coordinate the deal process end-to-end, including investment structuring, debt structuring, covenant negotiation, tax structuring, locked boxes and funds flows.

- Portfolio Management: Serve as a board member for portfolio companies where applicable; support investee companies on financial and operating matters; monitor performance against budget and support exit planning.

Qualifications

- German market experience

- 8+ years of relevant experience (investment banking, Big 4, or strategy consulting background preferred) in Private Equity or an Asset Manager with EUR250m+ AUM

- Private Equity background (credit background also favorably considered)

- Fluency in German and English

- Willingness to travel across the DACH region and to ICG's UK/international offices
