About This Role

DEG (Deutsche Investitions- und Entwicklungsgesellschaft) is Germany's development finance institution and a subsidiary of KfW Group. DEG finances investments in private-sector companies across emerging and developing markets, with a focus on sustainable infrastructure and renewable energy. The organization is seeking an Investment Manager to join its Infrastructure & Energy Debt division in Cologne.

The Investment Manager will be responsible for initiating, structuring, and executing international project financings in the infrastructure and renewable energy sectors. The role spans the full investment cycle: from deal sourcing and due diligence through transaction execution, contract negotiation, and ongoing portfolio monitoring.

Key responsibilities include leading cross-functional deal teams on complex project finance transactions, developing and stress-testing financial models, negotiating financing agreements with international counterparties, and advising clients on alignment with sustainable development goals (SDGs). The role also involves monitoring portfolio companies and contributing to DEG's broader mission of mobilizing private capital in frontier and emerging markets.

Candidates should bring several years of experience in international project and infrastructure financing, ideally with exposure to renewable energy transactions. Strong command of complex financial and legal frameworks, proficiency in financial modeling, and excellent communication skills in English are required. Basic German proficiency is valued. The role requires willingness to travel internationally and comfort working across cultures and geographies.

DEG offers a competitive compensation package, flexible work models, comprehensive training and professional development programs, and excellent transportation benefits including a free nationwide German rail pass (Deutschlandticket).
