About This Role

Opportunity: Vice President, Tax, Real Estate at Brookfield, Singapore

Brookfield, a preeminent global alternative asset manager, is seeking a highly accomplished tax professional to assume the role of Vice President, Tax, Real Estate. Based in Singapore, this strategic position offers a significant opportunity to manage complex tax matters across a diverse and substantial portfolio of real estate private equity investments, playing a critical role within a globally recognized firm.

As Vice President, Tax, Real Estate, you will be instrumental in overseeing all tax aspects of Brookfield’s real estate private equity activities across the full investment lifecycle – from acquisition and ongoing management to eventual disposition. You will collaborate closely with investment teams, legal counsel, and finance professionals to ensure tax efficiency, compliance, and optimal structuring across various international jurisdictions relevant to real estate funds and assets. This involves navigating intricate tax landscapes to support the firm's growth objectives.

Key Responsibilities will include:

Tax Structuring:* Design and implement tax-efficient structures for new real estate private equity acquisitions, dispositions, and fund formations. This involves analyzing cross-border implications, optimizing investment vehicles, and ensuring adherence to global tax frameworks.

Tax Due Diligence:* Lead comprehensive tax due diligence for potential real estate investments, identifying and assessing tax risks and opportunities, and advising on appropriate mitigation strategies and transaction structures.

Tax Compliance Oversight:* Oversee and manage the preparation and review of tax returns, provisions, and disclosures for real estate private equity funds and their underlying assets. Ensure robust adherence to local and international tax regulations and reporting standards.

Tax Planning and Optimization:* Develop and implement proactive tax planning initiatives aimed at enhancing after-tax returns on real estate investments. Continuously monitor changes in tax legislation, assessing their potential impact on the portfolio and advising on necessary adjustments.

Advisory Support:* Provide expert tax advice and guidance to investment teams, asset management, and other internal stakeholders on various transactions, operational matters, and strategic initiatives, translating complex tax concepts into clear, actionable insights.

External Advisor Management:* Cultivate and manage relationships with external tax advisors, auditors, and regulatory bodies, ensuring effective and cost-efficient delivery of services and alignment with Brookfield’s objectives.

Reporting:* Prepare and present detailed tax-related reports and analyses to senior management, offering clear, concise insights into tax positions, strategies, and potential implications for the firm's real estate private equity platform.

This Vice President role is suited for a seasoned tax professional with a deep understanding of real estate private equity structures, international tax principles, and a proven ability to operate in a fast-paced, institutional environment. The position offers a platform to contribute directly to the financial success and strategic direction of a major global asset manager's real estate private equity platform. Located in Singapore, this role is critical to supporting Brookfield's continued growth and investment activities across Asia and globally.
