TCG Labs Fund I is the inaugural venture capital fund of TCG Labs-Soleil, a biotech company creation platform operating within The Column Group (TCG) ecosystem, one of the most productive biotech venture platforms in the United States. The fund was formed in 2024 with a capital commitment of USD 400 million, matched by a follow-on raise of an additional USD 400 million in July 2025. TCG Labs-Soleil integrates a dedicated venture fund with an evergreen R&D hub led by top-tier drug developers and scientists, co-headquartered in South San Francisco and Shanghai. The fund is led by Jin-Long Chen, the founder of NGM Biopharmaceuticals and former research head at Amgen, bringing decades of clinical and drug development expertise to the platform's company-creation model.
TCG Labs Fund I follows a single-asset company creation strategy, forming and capitalising independent portfolio companies each dedicated to advancing a single high-potential drug candidate through clinical proof of concept. The integrated structure gives TCG Labs-Soleil full authority over asset selection, R&D strategy, financing and execution, enabling greater capital efficiency and faster decision-making than traditional multi-asset biotech funds. The fund targets biologic-based therapies across multiple disease areas and modalities, advancing programs through Phase 2 clinical trials — the stage at which proof-of-concept data supports strategic partnership or acquisition discussions with large pharmaceutical companies. R&D infrastructure spans South San Francisco and Shanghai, expanding TCG's global development footprint for the benefit of the portfolio.
Since its founding, TCG Labs-Soleil has formed more than ten portfolio companies, each pursuing a distinct therapeutic candidate. TCG Labs operates within a broader ecosystem that includes TCG Platform funds, TCG Opportunity funds and TCG Crossover (TCGX), the latter having raised USD 3.1 billion across three crossover funds since 2021. The combined platform offers portfolio companies a full lifecycle of capital support from company creation through clinical development and into public markets, making TCG Labs Fund I a foundational component of one of the most vertically integrated biotech investment platforms globally.
