About This Fund

Stone Point Capital Trident IX (formally Trident IX, L.P.) is the ninth fund in Stone Point Capital's flagship Trident series, a sequence of global financial services-focused private equity funds managed by Stone Point Capital LLC, headquartered in Greenwich, Connecticut. Stone Point was founded in 2005 and manages more than $40 billion in assets, with an exclusive sector mandate covering financial services, insurance, asset management, wealth management, and related businesses. Trident IX launched its investment period in September 2021 and represents a significant step-up from its predecessor Trident VIII, which raised $7 billion and closed in January 2020.

The fund deploys a buyout and growth equity strategy exclusively targeting companies operating in the global financial services industry and related sectors. Key verticals include insurance underwriting, insurance distribution, insurance services, asset management, wealth management and fund administration, lending and capital markets, real estate finance, employee benefits and human capital management, and health insurance services. Stone Point employs a proactive, focused sourcing process built on deep industry relationships accumulated across nearly two decades and ten fund generations, targeting proprietary deal flow in all subsectors of financial services.

Trident IX held its final close on 12 July 2022 at more than $9 billion in total committed capital, reaching its hard cap and attracting strong support from existing investors and first-time institutional commitments. GP and affiliated entities committed approximately $500 million, representing meaningful alignment with limited partners. The fund's legal counsel was Debevoise and Plimpton LLP. The successor fund Trident X closed in July 2025 at $11.5 billion. Notable portfolio companies at close include Businessolver, Beeline, and Tivity. Alaska Permanent Fund Corporation committed approximately $45 million to the fund.
