About This Fund
The Queensland Energy Investment Fund is a $400 million (AUD) infrastructure investment fund established by the Queensland Government and managed by Queensland Investment Corporation (QIC), Australia's government-owned global investment manager. Announced as part of the Queensland Energy Roadmap 2025—released in October 2025—the fund is designed to accelerate the development of new energy generation, storage, and firming capacity across Queensland, with particular focus on renewable energy, gas firming, and clean energy storage technologies.
QIC, which brings deep infrastructure investing expertise and established capital markets relationships built over decades, serves as the fund manager and is responsible for sourcing, structuring, and managing Queensland energy supply and firming projects from origination through to operations. The fund is specifically designed to act as a catalytic vehicle, unlocking private sector co-investment by providing initial public capital to de-risk projects and create bankable investment structures for institutional participation. QIC will work alongside Queensland's Government Owned Corporations (GOCs) and private sector participants to develop innovative blended-finance solutions that maximize whole-of-state energy and economic outcomes.
A complementary initiative under the Energy Roadmap, the Queensland Investor Gateway, acts as a structured entry point for private capital seeking exposure to Queensland's energy transition. This institutional front door enables infrastructure investors, developers, and operators to access curated pathways for partnering with GOCs and participating in new generation and storage pipeline projects.
