About This Fund
Brookfield Strategic Real Estate Partners V (BSREP V) is the fifth flagship opportunistic real estate fund managed by Brookfield Asset Management, one of the world's largest alternative asset managers with over $1 trillion in assets under management globally. Targeting a fund size of $15 billion in equity commitments, BSREP V launched fundraising in 2023 and held its first close in the first quarter of 2024, having raised more than $8 billion in capital — including $2.2 billion raised in Q1 2024 alone. The New York State Common Retirement Fund (NYSCRF) made a $375 million commitment to the fund, illustrating the calibre of institutional investor participation attracted by the Brookfield real estate platform.
BSREP V pursues an opportunistic real estate investment strategy globally, targeting high-quality assets across multiple property sectors and geographies where Brookfield's operational scale and global market presence create a distinctive competitive advantage. As with its predecessor funds, BSREP V targets situations requiring complex, value-add execution, including stressed or distressed assets, corporate carve-outs of real estate portfolios, development opportunities in high-barriers markets, and repositioning of underperforming assets. Brookfield's vertically integrated operating platform — spanning property management, development, leasing, and capital markets — provides the fund with direct operational control over performance outcomes across a global portfolio.
Brookfield's prior BSREP funds have established a long-term track record of delivering value-oriented returns from opportunistic real estate exposure, with predecessor vehicles executing high-profile transactions across North America, Europe, and Asia Pacific. The firm's global reach, sector breadth, and operational capabilities position BSREP V to capitalise on real estate dislocation opportunities across cycles. With approximately $8.5 billion raised as of late 2024 and a $15 billion equity target, the fund remains in active fundraising and deployment, representing one of the largest opportunistic real estate fundraises in the current market cycle.
