About This Fund

Brookfield Global Transition Fund II (BGTF II) is the second flagship clean energy transition fund managed by Brookfield Asset Management, the world's leading renewable power and transition investor with a global portfolio spanning over 33,000 MW of operating clean energy capacity. Launched in 2024, BGTF II continues the mandate of its predecessor Brookfield Global Transition Fund I (BGTF I), which raised a then-record $15 billion at final close in June 2022, targeting investments in assets and businesses enabling the structural shift from carbon-intensive energy systems to clean, renewable alternatives.

BGTF II focuses on large-scale renewable energy infrastructure including wind, solar, and hydropower generation; energy transmission and distribution network upgrades; green hydrogen and emerging clean energy technologies; and business decarbonization—accelerating the transition of carbon-intensive enterprises to net-zero operational models. The fund applies a private equity-style operational improvement model to infrastructure assets, targeting institutional-grade risk-adjusted returns through active ownership and capital allocation across the clean energy transition value chain. Its investor base comprises leading pension funds, sovereign wealth funds, insurance companies, and endowments globally.

BGTF II achieved its first institutional close in February 2024 at $10 billion, followed by a final institutional close in October 2025 at $20 billion in fund commitments and strategic capital—surpassing both its predecessor's record and becoming the world's largest private fund dedicated to the energy transition. With approximately $3.5 billion in additional co-investment capital secured alongside the fund, total capital raised reached $23.5 billion, reflecting deep institutional conviction in clean energy transition infrastructure as a long-duration asset class.
