About This Fund
Bpifrance Large Venture is a €2.5 billion growth-stage venture capital fund managed by Bpifrance, the French public investment bank, active since 2014. Large Venture represents Bpifrance's flagship growth equity instrument for backing France's most ambitious and innovative technology and life sciences companies at scale. The fund acts as a long-term, active shareholder that co-invests in growth rounds of €20 million and above, typically committing a minimum first ticket of €10 million and increasing its position through follow-on investments over multiple rounds.
The fund's investment universe spans highly innovative, high-growth companies across two strategic verticals: Technology (including software, platforms, deep tech, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and fintech) and Life Sciences (including biotechnology, medical devices, diagnostics, and digital health). Large Venture invests in both listed and unlisted companies that have reached commercialization with proven business models and are seeking capital to accelerate international expansion, scale operations, or fund late-stage clinical development. The fund's minimum co-investment requirement — at least an equivalent amount from private investors — ensures that each investment carries strong private market validation.
Since inception, Bpifrance Large Venture has invested in more than 80 companies and has backed 11 of France's 31 unicorns as of 2022, including some of the country's most recognized technology success stories. The fund's portfolio companies have collectively generated over €3.3 billion in cumulative revenue and created more than 19,000 direct jobs, making Large Venture one of the most impactful institutional growth investors in continental Europe. The fund positions Bpifrance as a catalyst for French technological sovereignty and international competitiveness, operating with a patient, long-term investment horizon aligned with its public mandate.
