About This Fund
Aurora Equity Partners VII (AEP VII) is a $2.1 billion middle-market buyout fund managed by Aurora Capital Partners, a Los Angeles-based private equity firm founded in 1991. Reaching final close on September 11, 2025, AEP VII is Aurora's largest fund since the firm's founding and exceeded its initial fundraising target, bringing total assets under management to approximately $6 billion. The fund was supported by a broad institutional base of new and existing limited partners including public and corporate pension funds, insurance companies, family offices, asset managers, and industry consultants, with capital raised via placement agent PJT Park Hill and legal counsel from Kirkland & Ellis.
AEP VII targets control-oriented buyout investments in US middle-market companies across three core verticals: business services, industrial services, and tech-enabled services. The fund employs Aurora's proprietary Strategy & Operations Program — a differentiated value creation framework emphasizing active partnership with management teams, operational improvement, and strategic transformation. Investment targets are market-leading businesses with defensible competitive positions operating in stable industry dynamics and well-suited for both organic growth acceleration and add-on acquisition strategies. AEP VII follows the same core investment thesis Aurora has applied consistently for more than three decades, with the Firm and its long-tenured partners maintaining the same strategy since the early 1990s.
Aurora Capital Partners has a long track record of value creation in the US lower and middle market. AEP VII's predecessor, Aurora Equity Partners VI, closed at $1.65 billion in 2021; AEP VII represents a 27% step-up in fund size. The fund's first deployment was GenServe, a US provider of standby power generators for commercial and industrial markets, completed in August 2024. Recent portfolio realizations include the sale of FMG Suite and the recapitalization of PSC Group alongside The Jordan Company (2024), demonstrating Aurora's active portfolio management and disciplined realization track record.
