Ardian Expansion Fund VI

Ardian Expansion Fund VI is a EUR 3.2B European growth equity fund by Ardian, targeting high-growth mid-cap companies with EUR 50M to 300M equity tickets.

About This Fund

Ardian Expansion Fund VI (AEF VI) is the sixth generation of Ardian's flagship growth equity strategy, reaching final close in January 2025 at 3.2 billion euros in commitments—a 60 percent increase over its predecessor fund and approximately 10 percent above the initial hard cap. The fund attracted 200 limited partners spanning 28 countries, including approximately 80 returning investors from AEF V who on average increased their commitments by 13 percent, alongside nearly 120 new investors—more than 50 of whom were first-time Ardian clients. Private wealth investors account for approximately 25 percent of the LP base, up from 16 percent in the prior fund, reflecting the strategy's growing appeal to high-net-worth and family office capital.

AEF VI invests in high-growth, mission-critical mid-sized private companies across Europe, deploying equity tickets ranging from 50 million to 300 million euros per transaction. The strategy targets category-leading businesses in proven growth sectors, partnering with committed and visionary entrepreneurs who retain meaningful ownership. Rather than pursuing full control buyouts, the Expansion team works alongside management to accelerate organic growth, support strategic acquisitions, and open new geographic markets. Ardian's employee shareholding program is embedded across 81 percent of the Expansion portfolio—across 20 exits, more than 8,000 employees have benefited directly from equity participation, reinforcing the fund's stakeholder value creation model.

At close, AEF VI was already 33 percent deployed across eight completed transactions, and portfolio companies demonstrated double-digit organic EBITDA growth through 2024. The fund's 36-person investment team operates from Paris, Frankfurt, and Milan, providing access to deal flow across continental Europe's three largest economies. Ardian, which manages over 170 billion dollars in assets globally, has built one of Europe's most recognized mid-market growth equity franchises through five prior Expansion generations spanning two decades.
