About This Fund
Ara Infrastructure Fund I is the inaugural infrastructure vehicle of Ara Partners, a Houston-headquartered private equity firm that pioneered industrial decarbonization investing. Launched in 2022, the fund extends Ara's flagship PE strategy into the infrastructure asset class, targeting mid-market assets that develop new capacity or repurpose existing legacy assets for the low-carbon industrial economy. The fund achieved its final close in May 2025 at over $800 million, well in excess of its original $500 million target, drawing commitments from a broad set of institutional investors including pension funds, insurance companies, sovereign wealth funds, endowments, and foundations from North America, Europe, and the Asia-Pacific region. Ara Infrastructure invests in sectors including industrial decarbonization, chemicals and advanced materials, energy efficiency and alternative fuels, food and agriculture infrastructure, and industrial and advanced manufacturing. The fund's investment team is co-led by George Yong and Teresa O'Flynn, Co-Heads of Infrastructure at Ara Partners. By final close, the fund had built a portfolio spanning 12 operational assets across North America and Europe, including Lincoln (terminal services), USD Clean Fuels (renewable fuel infrastructure), and Natural World Products (organics recycling). Ara Infrastructure differentiates from traditional infrastructure funds by focusing on mid-market industrial assets with high operational complexity — a segment underserved by large-cap infrastructure managers — and applying the firm's deep industrial operating expertise accumulated through its flagship private equity funds.
