About This Fund
A.P. Moller Capital Emerging Markets Infrastructure Fund II is an infrastructure fund managed by A.P. Moller Capital, the alternative investment arm of the A.P. Moller Group headquartered in Hellerup, Denmark. The fund reached its final close on December 17, 2024, targeting approximately USD 1 billion in capital commitments from institutional investors including development finance institutions. EMIF II focuses on upper middle-market infrastructure investments in Sub-Saharan Africa and South and Southeast Asia, two regions where the infrastructure gap remains among the largest in the world and where institutional capital can generate both financial returns and measurable development impact.
The fund's investment strategy concentrates on low carbon intensity transport and renewable energy infrastructure, building on A.P. Moller Capital's operational heritage in shipping, ports, and logistics through the A.P. Moller Maersk Group. Transport infrastructure including ports, warehousing, and intermodal logistics represents a core competency, complemented by renewable energy projects aligned with the fund's climate-conscious mandate. EMIF II allocates approximately 50% of its capital to Africa and 50% to South and Southeast Asia, with on-the-ground teams in Copenhagen, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Singapore, and Morocco enabling local sourcing and post-investment management.
A.P. Moller Capital is regulated by the Danish Financial Supervisory Authority as an Alternative Investment Fund Manager. The fund received LP commitments from institutional investors including the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB), which approved a commitment in 2023, signaling alignment with multilateral development objectives. EMIF II does not accept new investors following its December 2024 final close. A.P. Moller Capital's predecessor EMIF I deployed capital across similar geographies and asset types, establishing the track record that underpins EMIF II's investor base.
