Ambienta Sustainable Credit Opportunities A SCSp is a private credit fund managed by Ambienta SGR, an Italian investment manager with nearly two decades of experience in environmental sustainability investing. This fund marks Ambienta's entry into the sustainable credit market, structured as a Luxembourg SCSp and representing the firm's first credit strategy alongside its established private equity platform. The fund combines the team's deep expertise in corporate credit with Ambienta's 17-year track record in environmental sustainability analysis.
The fund targets mid-market companies across Europe and globally whose growth is driven by environmental sustainability, providing flexible private credit solutions—including senior secured loans, unitranche, and subordinated instruments—to environmental champions in sectors such as resource efficiency, cleantech, environmental services, sustainable manufacturing, and pollution control. Ambienta's proprietary Environmental Impact Analysis framework screens and monitors each credit investment for environmental quality, ensuring the portfolio consistently backs businesses that create measurable environmental benefit. More than 600 opportunities were screened, with approximately 13 deals executed, reflecting disciplined credit selection.
The fund held its first close in January 2024, raising approximately €250 million (half of its initial €500 million target), supported by leading foundations, pension funds, and family offices from across Europe and the United States. The strategy subsequently exceeded its €500 million target and completed its final close in January 2026 with total commitments above the original target, having deployed approximately €300 million across 13 transactions. The strong execution record and oversubscription demonstrate the firm's ability to source proprietary environmental credit opportunities with attractive risk-adjusted returns.
