Altor Fund IV is the fourth private equity fund managed by Altor Equity Partners, a leading Nordic mid-market buyout firm headquartered in Stockholm, Sweden. Established in 2003, Altor focuses on building and transforming companies in the Nordic region and DACH countries, bringing capital, governance, and operational expertise to businesses with significant value-creation potential. Altor's investment team has accumulated a track record of 29% gross IRR and 3.0x money multiple across realized investments over two decades.
Altor Fund IV pursues a mid-market buyout strategy targeting private companies with revenues typically in the range of €50 million to €500 million. The fund applies a flexible mandate accommodating majority buyouts, minority positions in public companies, and selective distressed opportunities. Sector coverage is broad but emphasizes business products and services, consumer products and services, commercial services, and technology, media, and telecommunications. With a 15-year fund term, Altor Fund IV can support portfolio companies through longer transformation journeys than typical private equity vehicles, while investor capital is sourced from US university endowments, charitable foundations, pension funds, and sovereign wealth funds.
Altor Fund IV closed in July 2014 at its €2 billion target in less than three months of marketing. Nordic investors represented approximately 20% of commitments, with the balance sourced from the United States, Europe, the Middle East, and Asia. The fund made 25 investments over its investment period across its Nordic core markets. As of 2024, Altor Fund IV is fully invested and in the harvesting stage, with the firm having launched its sixth fund at €3 billion to sustain its Nordic mid-market franchise.
