About This Fund
Altor ACT I is a EUR 1.1 billion dedicated private equity fund managed by Altor Equity Partners, the Stockholm-headquartered mid-market buyout firm with a more than 20-year track record investing in Nordic and DACH companies. The fund closed at its hard cap in September 2024 and is classified as an SFDR Article 9 fund, the highest EU sustainability classification, reflecting its exclusive focus on investments in companies with specific green transition themes or that otherwise benefit structurally from green transition tailwinds. Pantheon International (PIN) was among the anchor institutional investors, committing GBP 20 million in March 2024.
Altor ACT I targets mid-market buyout investments in the Nordic and DACH region, focusing on companies operating within green transition value chains — including industrial decarbonisation, sustainable supply chains, clean energy services, and environmental solutions — or those developing industrial processes for direct green applications. The fund's mandate reflects Altor's strategic conviction that European businesses face a structural requirement to decarbonise under EU regulatory targets, which mandate at least a 55 percent reduction in net greenhouse gas emissions by 2030. Portfolio companies are expected to help customers meet these requirements or to benefit from the resulting investment supercycle.
Altor Equity Partners has operated since 2003 and has developed a significant franchise in mid-market private equity investing across the Nordic and DACH region, with over EUR 8 billion raised across its fund series including Altor Fund II through Fund VI and now ACT I. The firm pursues control investments, often acting as the first institutional owner and partnering with founders and management. Altor is known for its buy-and-build capabilities, having completed more than 80 add-on acquisitions across its portfolio companies. ACT I co-invests alongside Altor Fund VI, with the two vehicles making joint investments such as the majority stake acquisition in Evac Holding Oy, a global leader in integrated water and waste management systems for marine and industrial applications.
