Trident Capital is a multistage venture capital firm established in 1993, known for investing in over 180 companies. The firm focuses on a broad range of technology-driven sectors, including software, services, internet, information technology security, healthcare IT, cloud computing, and online and mobile customer interaction. They provide both venture capital and growth capital funding, along with strategic and operational guidance, to companies from early-stage startups to late-stage growth investments.

Founded in 1993, Trident Capital was co-founded by Donald Dixon, John Moragne, Rockwell Schnabel, and Robert McCormack, with Ed Mathias serving as an advisor. Between its inception and 2010, the firm successfully raised seven funds, accumulating over $1.9 billion in capital. In 2015, the partners of Trident Capital strategically spun out two new, specialized firms: Forgepoint Capital, which exclusively targets cybersecurity investments, and Sunstone Partners, a growth equity firm dedicated to technology-enabled business services. The original Trident Capital team continues to actively manage its existing portfolio.
