Rethink Ventures is a specialist venture capital firm dedicated to investing in the future of transportation. The firm focuses on early-stage, tech-driven mobility and logistics startups across Europe, including the UK. Their mission is to support visionary entrepreneurs who are redefining the transportation sector, with a strong emphasis on sustainability and decarbonization.

Founded in 2022, Rethink Ventures was co-founded by Jens Philipp Klein and Matthias Schanze. Jens-Philipp Klein brings over a decade of experience in investing, building, and supporting technology-driven companies, having previously been a Partner at Atlantic Labs. Matthias Schanze has 15 years of experience in the mobility and logistics sector, with prior roles at Siemens-backed venture capital fund Next47, where he led the mobility practice. The firm was established to capitalize on the opportunities presented by technologically driven change and the urgent need to decarbonize the transportation industry.

Rethink Ventures boasts a diverse portfolio of innovative companies. Notable investments include driveblocks, which specializes in AI perception for unstructured terrain; Rail-Flow, focused on accelerating global expansion in rail logistics; Delta Charge, developing Europe's electric truck charging network; and Hyperdrives, a deep tech startup turbocharging electric motors. Other portfolio companies include Nautica, developing autonomous underwater robots for ship hull cleaning; Logistikbude, optimizing reusable management; eMabler, enabling EV charging offerings; Enabl Tech, introducing remote-controlled forklifts; Shipzero, scaling an innovative emissions cloud; and S2 data, optimizing transport planning with AI.

The Rethink Ventures team comprises experienced professionals with deep industry knowledge. General Partners Jens Philipp Klein and Matthias Schanze lead the investment strategy. The team also includes Romina Affé, overseeing Operations & Comms with a background in the fast-paced VC/startup world; Associates Mark Werner and Michael Buchinger, who bring experience from tech startups, logistics, mobility, and digital investment arms like Allianz X. Venture Partners like Artur Hasselbach, co-founder of Orderbird, and Sven von Loh, a serial entrepreneur who founded LeasingTime.de, contribute extensive entrepreneurial and investment expertise to support portfolio companies.
