MSD Partners

MSD Partners was a premier investment firm established in 2009, initially investing on behalf of Michael Dell, his family, and other like-minded investors. The firm focused on maximizing long-term capital appreciation through a multi-disciplinary investment strategy. Its core areas of expertise included private credit, real estate credit, real estate equity, growth equity, and other alternative investments. MSD Partners deployed capital across various financial instruments, including debt and equity of public and private companies, real estate, and other asset classes, with a flexible mandate to pursue opportunistic investments.

In January 2023, MSD Partners merged with BDT & Company, a merchant bank founded by Byron Trott, to form BDT & MSD Partners. This combination created a preeminent advisory and investment firm serving family- and founder-led business owners and strategic, long-term investors. The combined entity leverages a differentiated capital base and a culture of aligned investing, continuing a legacy of investment and advisory services that began with its predecessor firms in 2009.

Before the merger, MSD Partners managed in excess of $20 billion in assets. As of June 27, 2025, MSD Partners, L.P. had approximately $23.1 billion in assets under management. The firm's investment portfolio included companies such as Oddity Tech Ltd., ReNew Energy Global Plc, Xponential Fitness, Inc., Emerald Holding, Inc., and Safehold Inc. They also invested in companies like Dawood Engineering, 6Sense Insights, and Parallel Markets, and managed funds like MSD Manufacturing Partners and MSD Bolt Partners Fund.

The leadership team associated with MSD Partners, L.P. included key individuals such as Byron Trott, Gregg Lemkau, Dan Jester, Michael Burns, San Orr, Chad Feingold, Cindy Michel, Robert Simonds, Saritha Reddy, and Mary Ann Todd. The firm operated from offices in strategic locations, including New York, Santa Monica, and West Palm Beach, reflecting its focus on the North American market while also engaging in global investment activities.
