Company Profile
Groupe PG is a Canadian software company specializing in the development of integrated, modular, and innovative management solutions for various industries. The firm's core offerings cater to the forestry, pulp and paper, sorting centers, and quarry and sandpit sectors. Their software solutions are designed to streamline operations such as weighing and wood measurement, inventory management, billing, financial tracking, and wood procurement payments. Groupe PG aims to provide clients with tools that enhance operational efficiency, control costs, and support informed decision-making processes.
The company's origins trace back to 1980 with the founding of Programmation Gagnon by Thomas Gagnon, initially developing management software for municipal, corporate, and forestry sectors in Quebec. In 2004, forestry-related activities were transferred to a new entity, PG Solutions corporatives & forestières (PGSCF). Pascal Gagné acquired PGSCF in 2007, with a vision for growth into a leading ERP software provider. The company began to form Groupe PG in 2010, expanding its offerings through acquisitions, including rights to Exact Modus applications and, in 2019-2020, a significant portion of Promotek's assets, which specialized in visual recognition and technological solutions for quarries and sandpits. In May 2019, Groupe PG announced a substantial investment of over $3.5 million to advance its products towards Forestry 4.0, focusing on cutting-edge technological infrastructure, including artificial intelligence, for real-time resource management.
Groupe PG has established a strong presence in Eastern Canada, serving over 140 customers across Quebec, Ontario, and New Brunswick, and also extends its reach to Maine in the United States and Finland. The company is an associate member of the Quebec Forest Industry Council and the Fédération québécoise des coopératives forestières, and became part of the FORAC consortium in 2019, collaborating with industry stakeholders, universities, and governments on research and development in the forest products industry. As of March 10, 2022, Groupe PG was acquired by N. Harris Computer, operating as an acquired subsidiary.
