Future Planet Capital is a London-based, impact-led venture capital firm that invests in high-growth companies emerging from the world's top universities and innovation centers. The firm targets ventures addressing critical UN Sustainable Development Goals, including climate change, education, health, security, and sustainable growth. The portfolio spans 160 companies, featuring standout investments like Barinthus Biotherapeutics (formerly Vaccitech, now public on NASDAQ), founded by prominent vaccinology experts; Tokamak Energy, a fusion energy pioneer where the firm was the first investor with a £25,000 pathfinder stake; and Captura, a Caltech spinout focused on ocean-based carbon removal. Other notable exits include over 60 businesses and founding stakes in eight unicorns, alongside public successes like 23andMe. These investments highlight expertise in biotech, clean energy, and climate tech. The team combines scientific knowledge, investment acumen, and operational experience, led by Executive Chairman Douglas Hansen-Luke and Managing Directors like Ed Phillips, Alex Leigh, and Surjit Kooner. Key members include investment directors with backgrounds from universities like Oxford and Harvard, former roles at J.P. Morgan, KPMG, and government-backed funds, and specialists in data science, law, and finance.
