European Investment Fund (EIF)

The EIF is the EU’s specialist vehicle for private equity, guarantees and microfinance, primarily in support of SMEs, micro- and social enterprises. The EIF is part of the EIB Group. Its shareholders are the European Investment Bank (EIB), the European Union, represented by the European Commission, and a wide range of public and private banks and financial institutions. Founded in 1994, the European Investment Fund is based in Luxembourg City, Luxembourg. The firm provides services in debt, early and later-stage venture capital, mezzanine, private equity growth, and secondary transitions. The EIF pursues two main statutory objectives: - fostering EU objectives, notably in the field of entrepreneurship, growth, innovation, research and development, employment and regional development; - generating an appropriate return for our shareholders, through a commercial pricing policy and a balance of fee and risk based income.
