European Investment Bank (EIB)

The European Investment Bank (EIB) is the long-term lending institution of the European Union and is owned by its member states. It provides finance and expertise for sustainable investment projects that contribute to EU policy objectives.

As a public institution, the EIB operates on a not-for-profit basis and its loans and projects focus on areas such as climate action, infrastructure, innovation, and small and medium-sized enterprises.

The EIB is headquartered in Luxembourg and was founded in 1958. It is the world’s largest international public lending institution, and it is the biggest multilateral borrower and lender by volume. The EIB Group employs around 3,500 people from all 27 EU member states, and it offers a diverse and inclusive work environment where employees can contribute to creating a positive impact on the European economy and society.
