Episode 1

Episode 1 is an early-stage European venture capital (VC) firm based in London. Founded in 2013, the firm has closed its third fund at £76 million ($95 million) and has made around 15 investments since opening its new fund last year. Episode 1 focuses on investing in pre-seed and seed-stage startups in the U.K., with a core focus on software companies in the AI, infrastructure, health, open source, "techbio," and marketplace spaces.

The firm has also built in-house "data-driven deal sourcing tools" to identify founder talent early in the process and has taken government capital through initiatives targeted at "advanced technology" firms. Episode 1 has a strong network of former or current founders as limited partners, which contributes to the exchange of information around deal flow and fundraising.
