The firm was founded in 2024 by Alex Benik, who brought over two decades of experience investing in infrastructure and security at Battery Ventures. He is known for his technical understanding and business-minded approach, with a passion for early-stage, technical, and infrastructure investments.

Encoded Ventures has made several notable investments in early-stage businesses, including ConfigHub, DataFlint, Datum, Tenzai, Jazz Security, IPXO, and Atero AI. Atero AI was recently acquired by Crusoe. Approximately half of Encoded Ventures' investments are based in Israel, reflecting Benik's significant involvement with startups in the region for over 15 years. The firm targets startups developing technologies in critical areas such as cloud infrastructure, data and AI infrastructure, and cybersecurity.
