Compass Gruppe GmbH & Co. KG is a cooperative network and service provider for medium-sized IT system houses in Germany. Established over 35 years ago, the organization focuses on strengthening its independent member companies through various collaborative initiatives. These include central purchasing, facilitating intensive information and experience exchange, providing an academy for employee qualification, and organizing events for networking and business development. Founded in 1988 by 14 medium-sized system houses, Compass Gruppe has grown to include 39 companies and additional subsidiaries operating across more than 80 locations throughout Germany. Each member company maintains its legal independence and often holds a market-leading position in its respective region. The core mission since its inception has been to foster cooperation among these IT system houses, enabling them to achieve strategic purchasing goals, optimize processes, and collectively enhance their service offerings.

The services provided by Compass Gruppe encompass central purchasing, where the group assumes the obligation for purchases made by its partners, thereby optimizing invoicing and ensuring payment security for suppliers. Beyond procurement, the group emphasizes collaboration through working groups and committees that develop blueprints for product and business development. Its academy offers advanced training in methodological competence, soft skills, and personal development, supporting employee retention and career planning for member companies. Events like the Compass Business Convention facilitate direct engagement between suppliers and member companies, fostering a strong internal network and a sense of community.

While Compass Gruppe is not an investment firm in the traditional sense, its activities significantly impact the IT sector by enabling its member companies to offer high-quality IT services, consulting, project management, implementation, managed services, and support nationwide. The group's focus areas for its members include IT infrastructure, cybersecurity, Microsoft Cloud solutions, and the development of future fields like robotics. In 2023, the group's member companies collectively achieved an external turnover of 1.151 billion Euros, and Compass Gruppe managed a purchasing volume of over 300 million Euros in IT infrastructure for its members in 2024.
