The firm was co-founded in 2023 by Federico Giannetti and Michele Morabito, two Italian investors. Initially launched as COREangels Climate under the broader COREangels network, the firm rebranded to Axel Carbon Capital to establish its independent identity and reflect its focus on industrial decarbonization. Giannetti and Morabito established the firm to address a gap in early-stage capital for clean technology startups, particularly in Southern Europe.
