Company Profile
Anara Impact Capital is an impact venture capital firm dedicated to investing in early-stage technology companies that are actively transforming learning, wellbeing, and the environment. The firm focuses on businesses that demonstrate the potential for both commercial returns and measurable social and environmental impact, primarily within the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region. They provide tailored financing through equity, debt, or hybrid instruments, with ticket sizes ranging from USD 500,000 to USD 5 million. In addition to capital, Anara Impact Capital offers customized technical assistance and impact management support to help its portfolio companies strengthen their operations, revenue, and overall impact.
The firm was spun out of Alfanar Venture Philanthropy, an organization with over two decades of experience supporting impact enterprises across the Arab world. Anara Impact Capital builds on this legacy, aiming to prove that the MENA region can develop scalable and global solutions to pressing challenges. Managing Partners Nafez Dakkak, Mohamed Hussain, and Nadia Moukaddam lead the firm, with Nafez Dakkak having previously founded Edraak, a major online Arabic education portal. The fund announced its first close at $48 million against a target of $50 million, anchored by significant institutional backers including KfW Development Bank on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development and the European Commission, alongside regional investors.
