Accion Ventures is the venture capital arm of Accion, a global nonprofit organization dedicated to creating a fair and inclusive economy. The firm operates as a leading early-stage investor, focusing on fintech solutions that promote financial inclusion for underserved individuals and small businesses worldwide. Accion Ventures strategically deploys capital into innovative startups that leverage digital technology to provide affordable, high-quality financial services, aiming to generate both social and financial returns. Accion, the parent organization, was founded in 1961 by Joe Blatchford, initially focusing on hands-on development projects and pioneering microcredit in Latin America in the 1970s. Accion Venture Lab, the predecessor to Accion Ventures, was established in 2012 to specifically invest in seed-stage inclusive fintech startups. In September 2025, this investment strategy rebranded to Accion Ventures with the close of its second early-stage fintech vehicle, Accion Ventures Fund II, LP, totaling $61.6 million.

The firm has a robust portfolio of over 70 early-stage startups across more than 30 countries, demonstrating a commitment to diverse geographies. Notable investments include companies like Apollo Agriculture, which provides financing and inputs to smallholder farmers, Lula, a digital SME lender, and Pula, offering agricultural insurance solutions. Other portfolio companies span areas such as digital payment apps, consumer financial health platforms, supply chain financing for SMEs, and alternative credit scoring. Accion Ventures has also achieved multiple successful exits from its portfolio, underscoring its ability to identify impactful and financially viable ventures.

Key team members include Managing Partners Rahil Rangwala, Amee Parbhoo, Vikas Raj, and Tahira Dosani, alongside Michael Schlein, President and CEO of Accion. The team brings deep expertise in global fintech investing, with a focus on providing hands-on support, strategic guidance, and operational advice to portfolio companies, leveraging Accion's extensive network and decades of experience in financial inclusion.
